Solar Developers & Construction Companies:

Recruit Qualified Talent

Executing on solar projects is challenging enough.  Finding well-qualified talent should not be.  Recruiting SHINE graduates ensures that you are gaining employees that have invested time and resources to acquiring the knowledge and skills needed for solar project installations.  This in turn increases efficiencies and safety on job sites.

SHINE students go through a rigorous program designed specifically for entry-level solar installation positions. Upon successful completion of SHINE’s Solar Ready 101 Program, graduates receive SHINE, NCCER Photovoltaic Systems Installer, NCCER Core, OSHA 10 and First Aid/CPR certifications. In addition, they also spend ample time in our outdoor learning lab doing hands-on installations.  The learning lab component of our Solar Ready 101 Program is designed to give students an immersive experience in installing solar under real-life conditions so that graduates gain the skills to succeed on a job site.

If you are currently recruiting for entry-level solar installation positions in Virginia, SHINE can help you staff up your positions in a number of ways:

Information Sessions: SHINE can set up times for you to visit our learning lab at Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC) and speak to current students about your company and hiring needs.  The information sessions provide your company with an opportunity to engage with SHINE students, answer their questions, and generate interest in joining your team.

Interview / Recruitment Days: If you have immediate hiring needs, SHINE can set up interview / recruitment days at our learning lab for you to interview SHINE students.  We can oversee planning of logistics and interview schedules and provide space to conduct formal interviews.

Job Fairs: For larger hiring needs, in cases when you may need 100-300 people to staff up your solar projects, SHINE can organize and host job fairs to help you ramp up quickly.  We will work closely with your team to coordinate timing of the job fairs to coincide with your construction start date so that participants in the job fairs have enough time to complete the 2 week SHINE Solar Ready 101 Program.  SHINE can put together marketing collateral and press releases specifically for your solar project and company and oversee all aspects of executing on the events.

Mobile Lab Deployment: SHINE is working on finalizing 2 mobile learning labs that can be deployed to solar project sites.  If your solar project is located 2+ hours away from Blackstone, Virginia where SVCC and our learning lab is based, this can be a great option.  SHINE can deploy a mobile lab directly to your site or a nearby venue and host classes from there.  This allows local residents to take the SHINE Solar Ready 101 Program without having to commute to Blackstone.

This is only a short list of ways SHINE can support your company's recruitment efforts.  We would be happy to work with you to create custom solutions for your projects.
